Homemade Dishwasher Tabs Recipe

All Natural homemade dishwasher tabs

I have been wanting to try out this recipe for a long time, but never seemed to have the time to do it, #reallife, until the day I completely ran out of dishwasher soap and it was well past store closing hours.  I decided to gather up the ingredients in my house and see if I could pull it off.

Thankfully, I had all the ingredients from making my own laundry detergent a month ago and thought maybe dishwashing soap might have similar ingredients? Yay, it does! Almost all the same ingredients and way easy to make. I'm all about easy and homemade (do those contradict each other?). HAHA.

I also love this recipe because it has Thieves cleaner and lemon essential oil in it. Thieves cleaner is a plant-based concentrate that is infused with powerful essential oils.  I'm all about keeping pesticides, synthetics and GMO's out of my products, even my essential oils. So, I make sure to only buy my oils from Young Living. BONUS, you could actually leave Thieves cleaner under your sink and not worry if your kid got into. I speak from experience. My 2-year old grabbed the cleaner from under our sink, unscrewed the top and dumped it all over her.  Thankfully, it was Thieves cleaner, I didn't need to worry. It was completely free of harmful chemicals. Bonus, it costs less than $1 to fill an entire spray bottle with. What?? I can't find any organic cleaner on the market that cheap! Double Win!!

So, here is the recipe I used, it totally worked and I feel so domesticated now.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

In a large glass bowl, mix the Borax and Washing Soda together. In a glass measuring cup add Thieves Cleaner and Lemon essential oil. Fill the remainder with vinegar until you have 1 cup of liquid. Add the liquid mixture into the dry mix and whisk together… it will foam a little. Pour into ice cube trays and let them sit out for about two hours. I put them in the fridge until they firmed up. Store in air tight mason jars.

Tips:

Do not overfill your ice cube trays so they will easily fit in your dishwasher soap tray. Add vinegar to your rinse cycle.

Homemade Sports Electrolyte Drink

I found this amazing recipe over at DontMessWithMama.com. She goes into much more detail as to what makes up the components of a true electrolyte drink and why it is so good for when you are dehydrated. Add in some essential oils and this is a power house drink.

Another powerhouse for energy when you are an athlete is Young Living's Ningxia Red super anti-oxidant drink or Ningxia Nitro. Both of those are super full of wonderful ingredients that support the body and promote energy.

Immune-Supporting, Soothing, All-natural Tea

Thieves essential oil blend is famous for maintaining a healthy immune system. If you haven't heard of Thieves blend I will briefly explain, it's AWESOME! You can even google some cool experiments people have done with it. This oil blend has supported my whole family's immune system over the last year and now that winter is among us, I can see the difference it has made in our health.

I LOVE this recipe with Thieves Vitality and Lemon Vitality. It's so perfect for the winter season. Plus, it's super easy to make! Drink this tea through out the winter months to support a healthy immune system.

Thieves Vitality is on the spicy side, so I sweeten it to help balance. Make sure you only get one drop or it will be SUPER spicy. That's when you split it into two cups and dilute the remainder. Enjoy!

Thieves Tea

  • Hot water
  • 1 drop Thieves Vitality essential oil blend (only 1, trust me)
  • 2 drops lemon Vitality essential oil
  • Sweetener of choice.  I use raw honey (I buy mine here)

Heat water until just before boiling. Add your sweetener and oils to a mug. Add hot water and stir. Feel free to make this your own and customize to your liking.

What are some natural methods you use to maintain your family's health all year long?
