Homemade Dishwasher Tabs Recipe

All Natural homemade dishwasher tabs

I have been wanting to try out this recipe for a long time, but never seemed to have the time to do it, #reallife, until the day I completely ran out of dishwasher soap and it was well past store closing hours.  I decided to gather up the ingredients in my house and see if I could pull it off.

Thankfully, I had all the ingredients from making my own laundry detergent a month ago and thought maybe dishwashing soap might have similar ingredients? Yay, it does! Almost all the same ingredients and way easy to make. I'm all about easy and homemade (do those contradict each other?). HAHA.

I also love this recipe because it has Thieves cleaner and lemon essential oil in it. Thieves cleaner is a plant-based concentrate that is infused with powerful essential oils.  I'm all about keeping pesticides, synthetics and GMO's out of my products, even my essential oils. So, I make sure to only buy my oils from Young Living. BONUS, you could actually leave Thieves cleaner under your sink and not worry if your kid got into. I speak from experience. My 2-year old grabbed the cleaner from under our sink, unscrewed the top and dumped it all over her.  Thankfully, it was Thieves cleaner, I didn't need to worry. It was completely free of harmful chemicals. Bonus, it costs less than $1 to fill an entire spray bottle with. What?? I can't find any organic cleaner on the market that cheap! Double Win!!

So, here is the recipe I used, it totally worked and I feel so domesticated now.

In a large glass bowl, mix the Borax and Washing Soda together. In a glass measuring cup add Thieves Cleaner and Lemon essential oil. Fill the remainder with vinegar until you have 1 cup of liquid. Add the liquid mixture into the dry mix and whisk together… it will foam a little. Pour into ice cube trays and let them sit out for about two hours. I put them in the fridge until they firmed up. Store in air tight mason jars.

Do not overfill your ice cube trays so they will easily fit in your dishwasher soap tray. Add vinegar to your rinse cycle.

Healthy Teeth for Adults and Kids

My kids have, unfortunately, inherited my bad teeth. I've had cavities since my first dentist visit and it's only gotten worse since. So dental care is extremely important to me and leaving out any potential toxins, like flouride, is also important.

My first discovery was adding a drop of Thieves to my toothpaste. It's a little spicy but it packs a punch and my teeth are no longer sensitive, which is awesome. I knew my kids could not handle the Thieves essential oil in their toothpaste, so I bought the Kid Scents Toothpaste by Young Living. I love that Young Living has applied their famous Thieves blend of essential oils into a non-flouride toothpaste. The kids love it and this bottle has lasted us a long time, with 3 kids using it.

Young Living also makes two kinds of adult toothpaste that we use as well. I use the adult toothpaste along with some old fashioned oil-pulling to promote a healthy mouth. Love, love, love Young Living toothpaste.

To further promote healthy bones and teeth, there are a few supplements that Young Living offers. Omegagize, Mineral Essence, Super Cal and some Ningxia Red are some great options.
